That said, depending on the composition of the paint, some exterior paint is appropriate for painting the interior of a home. Paint meant for the exterior of a home will hold up over time.Just be sure that the area being painted is well ventilated, as it will come with a strong smell at first, which will dissipate over time.A painting professional will be able to advise you about whether your exterior paint is appropriate for indoor use.

Rome came to our house to take a look around back in May and promised me a quote by the end of the day-unlike other workers that we've had in the past, Rome stuck by his word and had it to me via email by dinnertime....something that reinforced the initial positive feeling that I had about him as he surveyed our home and listened to my ideas. We hired Rome and he and his crew began working on our home within the following couple weeks. Something we love about Rome is how knowledgable he is when it comes to the range of paint products and colors (we had a general idea that we wanted a light neutral color with a little tint of green and the easiest way for me was to have Rome narrow it down to 2-3 colors), for whatever advice or guidance we needed, he was always (and is always) a phone call away!

Generally speaking, a gallon of paint will cover about 350 square feet. If this is the first time drywall is painted, it will soak up more paint. And remember to factor in whether your job will require one or two coats of paint. Dark and bright colors will require more coats of paint, as will painting a lighter color over an existing darker color. Divide the paintable wall surface by 350 to determine how many gallons of paint you will need to buy. If there’s an odd number with less than .5 leftover, round down, if it’s over .5 round up.

Before you start a painting job either on the interior your home, or the exterior, you’ll need to estimate how much paint to buy. There are various factors to take into consideration when deciding how many gallons of paint to buy for your project. You’ll need the square footage of the area that needs to be painted, while keeping in mind that doors and windows require a different type of paint from the walls.

Painters often tint primer close to the color of the top coat, but Wallis thinks that's a recipe for "holidays," or missed spots. Instead, he tints his primer a contrasting color. "If I can see the color coming through, I know I need to apply more paint," he says. On the cottage shown in this story, he chose a gray-blue primer to go under a peach top coat.

In addition to working on our house, Rome has now done jobs for my in-laws, brother, cousin and even a family friend (so its fair to say that I've seen a variety of his work in person) and all of us have been more than pleased with the finished products! If you're browsing for someone to "get the job done", end your search NOW and give Rome a call, you won't regret it!
"They did a good job, they painted our family room. Kitchen. 1/2 bathroom and a hallway. We chose Edge comb gray to cover our previous gold walls. I was disappointed that they missed areas around our blinds that we didn't notice during our walkthrough. I phoned the project manager and they send a painter the next day to touch up the areas missed. We also noticed they didn't remove the blinds to paint over the previous gold paint and it was visible. I asked the painter to remove the blinds to paint under them, but the next day one of our blinds fell down when opening them and I couldn't get it back up. I called the project manager and he said the painters are not suppose to remove blinds for this very reason. I think that's really poor of Precision to paint around the blinds and that will impact my decision for painting the rest of my house since my previous painter removed them and I don't want old colors left behind around the windows. Other than that, we are happy with the paint job"

O'Neil patches shallow holes and divots with Ready Patch because it dries fast, sands smooth, and stays flexible. Deep cracks and rotten spots are best repaired with two-step epoxies, such as those made by Advanced Repair Technology. (For a step-by-step instructions, see Repairing Rot with Epoxy.) The days of using polyester auto-body fillers on wood are over. "They cure too hard," says Portland, Oregon–based painting contractor Kathleen George. "They look good at first, but then they peel away."
